Rock ‘n’ Roll Nightmare (1987)

This movie is like if someone gave Bigwig Productions $10,000, a couple days at a barn in Canada and some old rubber monster masks from the Halloween shop.

In other words, awesome, right?

If, like myself yesterday afternoon, you’ve never seen this gem, I won’t talk too much about it here. The “twist” blew my mind, as did the way writer/star Jon Mikl Thor managed to sandwich awkward sex scenes back to back to back.

And the soundtrack? Seriously amazing. I’m on a relentless search for it now so I can get my Tritonz fix. Maybe I’ll just pick up some of Thor’s own albums! I really wanted to embed the trailer or maybe a music video, so I am very disappointed in YouTube at the moment.

Galaktischer Gettosketchbook: Der Lumpenkerl (1999)

I now “proudly” present to you Der Lumpenkerl, my first and last comic written in German, as well as the first in my series of Scanning in Old Shit from the GGS.

I toyed with the idea of adding a translated version, but I can’t decide whether or not it’s funnier just to leave it like it is. Here is a hint if you decide to Babelfish this badboy: It is a tragedy!

Edit: Okay, here’s a rough translation of the terrible German if you’re interested!

Back From NYC

Though this may be an irrelevant note since I didn’t mention I was going!

I visited King Canaan for his birthday extravaganza (courtesy of his majesty’s fair lady), saw the Badass Brooklyn Beast Pete Petrone and, much to my blustery chagrin, also spent some time with that rogue Pat Sanders.

One of the greatest discoveries, however, was Toy Zipangu. I’m a big fan of Toy Tokyo, yet the ratio of sentai toys to non-sentai toys in Zipangu was completely insane. It’s a tiny place, but they have a straight across row of shelves consisting entirely of robots (or “Zords,” if you like) from Changeman to Dairanger and so on.

Now you must stone me with red hot rocks, for I bought nothing!
